Fortunately, some aspects of life on Earth have remained offline. In fact, we can even do some offline preparation before we take our first online piano lessons. This involves learning some of the basic components related to piano playing. Here are some of the most significant ones:
1. Flats
This is a term that you should understand prior to taking online piano lessons. You can find a Key`s Flat by moving either one Note or one Half Step downwards (to the left). Musicians use a symbol that looks similar to a small letter b, to indicate a Key`s Flat. Five flat notes appear on the piano keyboard an during online piano lessons: Db, Eb, Gb, Ab, and Bb
2. Half Steps
This is an important term to learn before taking online piano lessons. A Half Step means that you move upwards one note (to the right), or that you move downwards on note (to the left). In most situations this means that you will move from a white key to a black key, or vice versa. However, a few exceptions exist: there are no black keys between two pairs of white keys: (E and F) and (B and C).
3. Measure
The vertical black lines on written music indicate Measures. You will see Measures whenever you take online piano lessons. The primary function of Measures is to break up a Staff into smaller chunks. Besides making the written music more orderly, also makes reading written music an easier task.
4. Notes
Here are the basic types of notes, which you should master before taking online piano lessons:
* Whole Note
* Half Note
* Quarter Note
* Eighth Note
* Sixteenth Note
5. Sharps
When you move one Note or one Half Step upwards from a certain Key, you have reached the sharp of the key. The pound symbol (#) indicates the Sharp of a Key. Meanwhile, before taking online piano lessons you should know that five Sharp Notes exist: C#, D#, F#, G#, and A#.
6. Time Signature
Make sure that you have a basic understanding of the Time Signature before you begin taking online piano lessons. The Time Signature shows how many notes are in a particular Measure, and which types of notes equal one Beat. In particular, the top number reveals the former`s value, while the bottom number indicates the latter`s value. The most common type of Time Signature is 4/4, which has earned it in the term “common time.”
7. Whole Steps
Before you take online piano lessons, you should know that a Whole Step equals two Half Steps. In other words, it is two Notes to the right or upwards; or two Notes to the left or downwards.
After learning the basics of the piano, you are ready for Rocket Piano. This is an outstanding way to improve your piano-playing skills.
